Brecheisen Week 6 Complex Geology

This week I visited Hollywood. Not only to hopefully catch a glimpse of some famous people, but also to observe the geologic exposures. As Hollywood is located along the Hollywood fault, it is adjacent to many complexities just to the North and East.
Since Hollywood is located along the Hollywood fault line, I’d request information on the occurrence of earthquakes. It’s important to know about the occurrence of earthquakes to determine their likelihood of occurring in the future and likely epicenters. Any information about when and where earthquakes might occur could prevent unnecessary damage in the future by building away from these areas.
The geologic map provides a useful legend of types of rocks and ages of the surrounding areas, so I’d request more information about that. It’s one thing to have a souvenir from Hollywood, but another if you could find some quartz from the Mesozoic era. The type and age of rocks could give useful information to the landscape of Hollywood prior to becoming an entertainment industry.
Along those lines, it might also be useful to know if any fossils have turned up around the area. Since some of the complexities include rock formations from the Mesozoic era so there could be plenty of hidden fossils. Fossils provide us with information about prehistoric species and potential missing links in evolutionary chains.
