The Andes- week 5

This week, I visited the Andes Mountain Range, where a convergent plate boundary is located. The plate boundary is between the Nazca plate, which is oceanic, and the South American plate, which is continental. This convergent plate boundary creates an earthquake zone, known as the Benioff zone. The collision deforms the South American plate. The boundary also creates volcanic activity, including many volcanoes along the fault line. One volcano in this zone is stratovolcano Lascar., pictured below.
