Stephen Samuelson Week 7

Zabriskie Point is a very interesting and very beautiful geological landmark. Shown below is the very popular mountain range this area is known for. These mountains protrude from the ground like blood veins, weaving around the landscape. I would like to know what caused these mountains to form in the first place. These mountains are all colored differently which makes me wonder what their composition is like. The fact these mountains are composed of different types of sediment also makes me wonder what the landscape might have been like millions of years ago. A geologic map of the area would make this easier. Using the map, I would try to find similarities in the rock type of Zabriskie point and the surrounding area. Maybe the rock composition is similar and charting out the region would be helpful.
