Week 5

This week I decided to visit the Taurus Mountains. It is a mountain system located in turkey and is extremely beautiful. At the highest point, these mountains are 12, 323 ft above sea level. There are scattered forests among the mountains at up to 8000 feet consisting of pine, cedar, and oak. In addition, white limestone can be found in the western parts of Taurus.

These mountain ranges were formed due to two continental plates colliding. They are the result of the collision of the African plates against the European plates. Due to this, compressive stress was involved as the plates were moving towards one another causing the mountain range. The range has several mineral deposits such as silver, copper, iron, and zinc.
