I love San Diego. It is one of my favorite places to visit in California, so it is only natural that I would visit there in the future. It also seems to be an ideal place to pick for this posting, since it is likely to be greatly impacted if the global warming continues at its same pace.
Unfortunately for me I picked a pier to start my journey from. The imperial beach pier. I say unfortunately because when I arrive 5000 years into the future in 7018, I find myself in the ocean. Naval Air Station North Island is submerged as is all of the former coast line.
The question, did global warming occur I think has already been answered, in that it is occurring.
While at the beginning of my trip I was hopeful that the human race would do something about it, humans greed and desire to outdo one another lead to the predictions of scientists to become obviously verified and true. While some efforts were made (renewable energy sources, conservation of natural resources, restrictions and taxes on fossil fuel usage) ultimately, corporations tied to coal, oil, natural gas, other industries and their political ties across the world won out over a more sensible view of trying to preserve our world.
The San Diego river has been heavily salinated which has greatly changed the wildlife of the new coast line. Looking to the South East, you can now have a slight view of the Gulf of California which has crept northwest from it's original position in our present time. It is sad that this is what the world has come to with the rising sea levels, due to humans ignoring the warning signs (many brought up by fellow humans)!
