A cascade in the mountains of Tenessee. Many rivers smooth out due to slowly eroding rock over time. Cascades are often formed due to water flowing over a junction between rocks of different types where one rock or sediment erodes much faster than an another. This seems to be the case here because the ground next to the river was a gradual slope of dirt. The river exposed bars of hard rock in the riverbed, underneath the layers of soil surrounding the river. This all came together to create a very peaceful place to be.
