Santa Clara California Earthquake Interpretations

California is a state that our family have not visited. So, when planning our family trip California was a perfect spot. We decided to visit the Santa Clara area and while doing this learned some interesting facts about the area. 

While in the Santa Clara area I couldn’t help wonder with all the earthquakes this state experience why would individuals live in an area where you never know when one is going to wipe out your area? Are there anything in place that can help lower the impact when they happen? Could you imagine that in the past year, the Santa Clara area have had 434 earthquakes? 

Based on the UCERF3, there is data that can project future earthquake rates such as fault locations and slip rates. However, if these data show all of this what are being done to help determine the next earthquakes?

My last question would be is there anything that can be done to help structure these faults?
