California Dreamin'

I have been to California several times; it is one of my favorite travel destinations. I have been to San Francisco, Sacramento and San Diego. I have seen so many beautiful things in California--the big trees of Muir Woods, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the beaching of La Jolla, just to name a few. So when my 9 year old son, Luke,  said he wanted to see igneous rocks that he had been learning about in school I jumped at the idea. Igneous rocks are all around us quartz, feldspar, and granite are rocks that my son and I see everyday in countertops, floors, etc. I wondered where to find granite in its true beauty, however, and did I ever! After doing a little research we chose to visit Yosemite Valley. The granite cliffs were breathtaking and beautiful. I will never look at countertops the same again :)
