Standing on foot in a ‘regular’ setting made me feel tall,
once I had stepped out of my vehicle, there I was- at the Flatirons in Boulder. I had felt like a piece
of natures’ puzzle as the Flatirons towered from above.
Formed by the
deposition and cementation of minerals from bodies of water, Sedimentary rocks
make up the Fountain Formation formed approximately thirty miles west of
Boulder, Colorado. As the mountains from the Ancestral Rocky Range eroded, coarse sand and gravel was deposited in all
directions, eventually hardening to rock.In this event, the Flatirons of Boulder which is composed of
layers, would evolve the shift and thus forming the fountain foundation know as
the Flatirons (today). Strata was noticeable and easily identified as it was
mostly common. In addition, the change in elevation, and surface are prominent
features that were also identified.
