I recently spent some time in South Korea. My friends and I
were told about this great hike that during the monsoon season had a great
waterfall to visit at Byeonsan-bando National Park. Sadly, it was not the season
to view the waterfall, but it gave us the opportunity to see the rocks that the
waterfall cut into. We visited the many observation decks while making our
descent through the massive area the river carved out. On our way down, we saw
many igneous rock formations that were left exposed. Many of these formations
were carved into steps for people to use. We even found a suitable one to stop
and eat lunch on! The rocks near the
river were smooth, while the ones further away were rough and ridged. I wish I
know exactly what types of formations were there, but I could not translate all
the information signs. The trip was worth it, even if was the off season.
Luckily for use, each season offers its own beauty and wonder to witness.
