I spent a lot of time at a place called the National Training Center located in the Mojave Desert. The Mojave Desert used to be covered in shallow seas during the Paleozoic era. but during the Mesozoic era, the area was uplifted which caused the shallow seas to evaporate. This caused the region to become windy and arid helping to create the Mojave Desert we see today. Things of note in the area is desert varnish and desert pavement. You can also see in the bands of limestone in the region the evidence of the processes that created the Mojave Desert.
