Week 6- Geological Interpretations- Kaleen Harrigan

I have personally never been to CA before, but after doing some research, I feel as if I had. The part I'm focusing on Sacramento, because this is where the fires have raged through. Giving me my first question, how did the land here contribute to the fires spreading further and long than ever before. This picture is from the California website, showing the geologic map and all the differences between regions. Just north of this city, is an extinct volcano. It is also home to some beautiful mountain ranges, as show in the picture below. It is also home to the Topic Marsh, Mohave Valley and the Colorado River.

Also, I would need to know more about the earthquakes in California. How often do they occur, where do they fall on richter scale, and what plates cause this. This is important before building anything in the area, because this could cause many building to collapse, especially if not built with these issues in mind. I would also request more information specifically about the weather. From the extreme to the normal, with the effects it has on the area. These would be the three most important questions for me to know.
