Igenous Rocks

Image result for Askja lake
I decided to take a trip to Iceland as that is where a lot of volcanic igneous rock can be found. I heard that there are 25 different types of igneous rocks that are present. I was able to locate the volcano called Askja which is still currently active. I was able to find a rhyolite rock that has a high silica count as well as having a pink color. Rhyolite is usually made up of material like quartz, plagioclase and sanidine. Other features of the Askja volcano is the beautiful lake near it. Normally a volcanic lake is created when explosive activity takes place and crater is formed from a collapse. Crater rim then fills the crater with water.
