I went on a trip to the Andes Mountains in South America. They are a large mountain range that covers a good portion of the northern and western parts of the continent. It is also the location of a convergent plate. Here an oceanic plate is sub-ducting under the continental plate. This subduction pushes magma chambers up to the surface creating mountains. The Andes are just one of a few mountain ranges that were formed this way. All of that goes along with the Andes being a beautiful mountain range, it really made this trip a great experience.
