Geological Interpretations
I chose to study and take a trip to Carmel, California. The
jagged coast and a large concentration of people inspired me to learn more about
the region. After looking at pictures and researching the landscape I concluded
what I would use to enhance my study. The three outside aid’s or information I
chose for my observations are a Fault line map, a radiometric time scale, and
data present on landslides in the area.
A fault line map tells the story of why certain geological
formations are where they are and further my understanding of the geology
present in California. A radiometric time scale allows me to estimate when
these formations were created and what types of material exist within them.
Lastly, data on landslides is important for the history of California’s coast,
Why some material may be older or younger in certain geographical locations.
