Death Valley Field Trip

While looking at the dunes the very first thing that came to mind was, what is under those dunes? I would love to be able to see what the land looked like under the sand to study the underlying rocks impact on the shape of the dunes and the ripples in the dunes. At the split cinder cone I would love to have a visual study of the different layers of the cinder cone to determine when the layers appeared and study the eruption history of the cinder cone. See what caused the original formation of it and how it has grown over the years. The final area would be the Bad water. Seeing the geological formations in this area you can see that magma was filled into the existing rocks to form new formations with little to no impact on the existing rocks. and no external formations in the pictures. I would like to know the source of this magma and see where the external exit was and how far the magma spread and what formations resulted from them.
