In April of 1906 a great earthquake hit San There is now an alliance called the 1906 earthquake
centennial alliance that organizes commemorations to the earthquake. It brings
together policy makers, scientists, engineers, historians, teachers and
emergency responders to learn the lessons from the devastation that occurred in
1906. Three pieces of data that I would use to aid in my interpretation of the
earthquake would be statistics of past earthquakes in the area, measurements of
the magnitude of the earthquake of 1906 and of course seismographs.
