Field Trip Travel Journal Week 2 - Devils Head

This week I travelled back to devil’s head peak, we left Saturday morning and we were able to get a nice view of the city of Denver and a nice view of the of the range itself. The rock formations we found were mudstone, shale, and limestone, all three have distinctive characteristics. Mudstone has a darker color and shale is more of a pink color, and the limestone has more of a light yellow color. There were multiple rock formations throughout the hike, and it was amazing to see how these formations are created over millions of years. My fiancé was enjoying this trip, it was her first time to the devil’s peak, and she enjoyed the nature trails and the view of the peaks from the fire tower. I am excited to continue with my travel journal and go visit other places in Colorado.
