I have three kids all adults living in other states. However, every summer we go on a family vacation. This year we decided to visit Hawaii to learn about the culture and to have fun in the sun. Getting all three kids their spouses and kids along with myself and my husband coming from all parts of the country was hard in itself. I am so glad that I don’t have little ones to travel with.
We all got to our location at different times in the day and planned a wonderful dinner. Part of our trip we decided to visit some parks and one of my grandson’s picked up a rock and asked what I thought of it?
Right away I recognized the rock and told him that it was an Igneous Rock. Now I thought that just saying what type of rock it was I would end that conversation but it didn’t.
Grandson: Grandma, What’s an igneous rock?
Me: Well honey, its actually what happens after the lava from a volcano cools down.
Knowing that we were close to where a volcano was I knew that the igneous rock was intrusive because it came up when the volcano erupted.
