My field trip entry is on Tabletop Mountain in Golden Colorado. Tabletop Mountain is a Mesa, east of the Rocky Mountains. It has a distinct slope leading to a flat surface, giving it the name Tabletop. This mountain is especially interesting due to it's accessibility and abundance of minerals. Two minerals easily found are Biotite and Magnetite. These two minerals are very easy to distinguish as Biotite has a very dark color as well as brittle layers on top of each other and Magnetite is fairly strong with a distinct black streak. There were however numerous other minerals that I was not able to identify, most being very dull and earthy in color.
I've lived in Colorado my entire life and have never been here. I'll have to go.
