Hello Class,
So, for this week's travel journal I decided to visit a state park that I have never been to before here in North Carolina. I took an hour and a half drive to Raven Ridge State Park located in Lillington, North Carolina. What you see above in the pictures is known as the Cape Fear River and this specific area of the river is called Fish Trap. As you can see the rising, lowering, and flow of the river has eroded and carved out a lot of the rock in the area and caused small pockets that fish get caught up in hence why the name. On the way to the river, The hiking path to the river is heavily eroded by rain fall and so you can see all of the smaller rocks and pebble that are being dragged into the river sooner or later. some parts of the river was roughly knee deep so I seen many people trying to walk across the river and then their was some parts that were deep. The water does look somewhat calm but not to far down from where I was you can see the area where it became very roughly and probably would of been a good area to go rafting. In the 2nd and 3rd picture you can see where the river has eroded a lot of the land and a lot of the rocks that have been breaking apart due to the flow of the water.
