Natural Bridge: Death Valley
This week I visited the Natural Bridge in Death Valley in an effort to create my own geologic map.
Walking under the bridge was pretty cool, knowing that it was completely formed by nature. Initially I thought it would be important to know what kind of rocks were in the area. Having this information would help inform how the bridge was formed; was it running water, wind erosion? It would also help date the bridge and surrounding areas.
Additionally I would want to know what the elevations are and whether there are any fault lines nearby, underground water or minerals; all of these are important details to have when creating a geologic map.
