Week 7 - Robbie Ficalora - Mesquite Sand Dunes

For my stop this week, I decided to check out the Mesquite Sand Dunes at Death Valley.

Mesquite Flat Dunes
From the self guided material, I can see that there are multiple dunes of different types. To properly construct a geologic map, what I would like to know is what kinds of rock contributed the formation of each kind of dune.  I would compare the sand to the surrounding rock to match a source of origin. From there I could make observations of the wind and weather to see the main contributing factors in the creation of the dunes from the source of origin. It will be tough work, but somehow it will get dune.
