Week 4- Volcanos

Joel Checo

Mt. Sakurajima is a volcano located in Kagoshima Bay of Japan. This volcano was last active in 2016. Sakurajima is an composite volcano which is a meaning for how the volcano is structured. The volcano contains volcanic rock and grows as erupted lava hardens. This means that Sakurajima only continues to grow. Sakurajima is known as one of the most active volcanos on earth, which is due to "magma feeding its volcanic vents" according to (Oskin, 2013). The current danger of Sakurajima is that of how close it is located to the land of Japan. The volcano is on a peninsula connected to the southern portion of Japan. If Sakurajima where to erupt far enough to hit the land where it is connected it could possibly cause a lot of damage to anything in the area.
