Week 5 - Converging Plates

This week I decided to check out the Himalayas.  The Himalayas are a mountain range formed by the convergence of the Indo-Australian and the Eurasian Tectonic Plates.  These plates were compressed by endogenic forces which caused the sedimentary and metamorphic rocks to form folds and thrust faults because they have a relatively low density.  Some interesting things to note is that the Himalayas are considered to be a relatively young mountain range and it's also home to the highest mountain above sea level, Mt. Everest.
